Ed Sanders & The Fugs - Original Recordings 1968-2024 [Deluxe] (Uk)
The Danish label Olufsen Records dedicates a second four-CD box set to the musical work of Ed Sanders, poet, singer, activist, writer and publisher known above all for his militancy (in the literal sense) in the Fugs. In deluxe book format, this box set also covers a vast period from 1968 to 2024: produced by Sanders himself, compiled by Peter Olufsen (who also curated the liner notes with the artist) and remastered by Erik Skovgaard Pedersen and Viggo Mangor, it includes classic Fugs recordings but also an official bootleg with the band's first ever concert from 1968, other rare live recordings and studio demos, a historic blues session with Allen Ginsberg, the first CD release of the electronic cantata "Socialist Of The Lower East Side" and two brand new recordings made last year with John Sebastian of the Lovin' Spoonful. An unmissable document for enthusiasts and scholars of the American counterculture and underground movement from the 60s to today.
